Drohem: Thanks! @ Aramis: Okay, I'll swap the original rolls MKS for TEC. After racial modifiers, it should look like this... Name: Grendel D'Argent Rank/Level: Ensign/1 Race: Rigel Branch: Technical Class: Engineering Units: 3 Experience: 0 === Abilities === 13 = MKM 10 = INT 11 = TEC 06 = CNT 11 = CHA 13 = STR 05 = LOY 01 = PSI === Psionic Powers === None === Equipment === Communicator [0.5u] Universal Translator [0.5u] Hand Laser [1.0u] Spring Rifle [1.0u] === Description === Ensign Grendel D'Argent is a Rigel male, 1.85 meters tall, with intense steel-blue eyes and black hair with a streak of silver along his right temple. His nickname "D'Argent", meaning " of silver" was given to him by his weapons instructor, although rumors have it given to him by his fellow cadets for winning much of their money in various games of chance. Is this acceptable? Ciao! Grendelwulf

Just an FYI... My wife is due to give birth any day, so if I suddenly disappear for a few days that's the reason. Our son is due May 12th, so it could be any time now.

Wow... with those rolls, I don't qualify for the requisites of ANY class! I presume I can scrap that character and try again? :-) "In the unlikely event that, using Method 1, a character's scores in all three of the prime requisites are below 9, it can be assumed that the character would be ineligible for space duty and would be assigned a desk job." I didn't roll a single score higher than 8 (and most of them below that)!

Now we're talking! Let me just swap Contact Skill with Marksmanship, and I am eligible for Command!
Name: Michael Falconer Rank/Level: Ensign/1 Race: Terran Branch: Military Subclass: Command
Acquired Skills (can change) Marksmanship: 15 Intelligence: 12 Technical Skill: 12 Contact Skill: 6
Inborn Abilities (can't change) Charisma: 14 Psionic Potential: 3 Strength/Hits: 9 Loyalty: 11
Psionic Powers Empathy (3)
Equipment Universal Translator [0.5u] Communicator [0.5u] Hand Laser [1.0u]
Michael Falconer grew up in San Francisco, Earth, in a family with two mommies and no discipline. A large fellow with great appetites, his search for masculine authority figures led him to religion, football, and Starfleet Military School. Well-liked, handsome, and intelligent, his main flaws are a rigid black-and-white morality and an occasional, but dangerous, temper.
How's that?
By the way, give me a subtitle for this board (i.e. in place of "TBA" under the title on the home page)!

Actually, some of the carnival stuff can change inborn. It's just that level up for officers can't adjust them.
Subtitle: Adak Sector

Okay, let's see what I get! Acquired SkillsMarksmanship: 3+2+1=6 Intelligence: 2+1+4=7 Technical Skill: 4+2+2=8 Contact Skill: 1+5+1=7 Inborn AbilitiesCharisma: 3+2+2=7 Psionic Potential: 2 Strength/Hits: 4+2+1=7 Loyalty: 5 Wow... with those rolls, I don't qualify for the requisites of ANY class! After racial mods, you only need one of MKS 9+, TEC 9+, or INT 9+. You don't have to be more than that. He's spaceworthy... as is.. because his tech is an 8, and by making him a Tauran, he will have the requisite 9.... and be a non-specialized Tech officer. Or swap the 8 to MKS (since I use a modified version 1), make him rigel and generic military, and he's spaceworthy with a 10 MKS. Or swap a 7 and make him rigel. He also will have Loyalty 9 and STR 9... qualifies for Security Guard! Or swap the 8 to Int, and make him Tauran or Andro, and he's got Int 9, and thus spaceworthy as a sciences geek. Mr. Lamer is viable, even without the swap. However, he's sucky enough that you may make him an enlisted NPC and use the other guy. But he's not a total wash, even under Method 1.

That's fine, I don't mind playing a statistically inferior character. I just misunderstood the rules, I guess. Just tell me which character you prefer I play, and we'll go from there.

Play Either. If you want the challenge, take #1. If you want a competent character, take #2. I'm not that picky... any character with no average+ (9-12) rolls is a potential reject as a pc in my book.
So play whichever; I am asking you to go ahead and write-up both... the one you don't play will be an NPC (and backup PC).

Yeah, it would be a bit disconcerting hearing our starship's doctor saying, "I'm a Doctor, not a taxidermist...any more..." Ciao! GW

Yes, that would be a bit disconcerting, to say the least.
