FYI you didn't beam O'Keef out of the shuttle, you beamed her out of weapons bay. and so far, I've only assigned around 200 XP... I've not done my tally yet, due to real life intrusion. Yeah, Jasper had 205 XP before you assigned the 400 XP for completing this mission. Although, it seems the post where you assigned the 400 XP is now gone. That totals 605 XP and only 500 XP is required to reach Rank 2.

I went through and refigured (finding all XP I'd awarded as well)... it's actually somewhat more than 605 total.

On the Sector Map, what are the grayed out stars (X series)? Does the Confed have any information on these items, especially the ones located nearest the border of Videni space?

Anything gray is system detected by starbase. Starbase operators, however, just never seem to find planets....
Edit: If you want to schedule time on the starbase sensors, you can get 2 system scan attempts (Your rank determines), but they won't apply power.
0412 would be at -4 0512 would be at -6 0813 would be at -10
All are known to be unary systems (One star only)
Edit2: I added a data table to the stickied map thread, showing what is known.

Cool, gratzie! apn: What do you think? I'm of two minds here; checking out the nearest system to our border and the Videni border (X-131) is prudent, but also checking out the other systems on the borders of Confed space is prudent as well (I'm thinking possibly X-134).

I'm all for seeking out new lifeforms and civilisations, meeting them, learning their language then engaging in interstellar combat with them and bombing them back to the dark ages from orbit. Other than that, you're the captain If we get into a right pickle I can then blame everything on you, whereas if all turns out ok, I can smugly state "Yes, I'm glad I agreed with your decision, captain" Somewhere near the Videni border and a starbase where we can patch up and repair sounds good to me. I need to dig the book out and have a look - are we actually at war with the Videni or in an uneasy state of truce?

In between. Here's an SOP
Zangids: Still technically at war, but orders are to use minimum force needed to evict from Confed space, to and including destruction of the Zangid, and report all contact. Outside confed space, Captain's discretion on engagements, based upon current mission. This sector is not normally an area known to be Zangid space. Ships are not considered expendable in eviction of zangid forces; disengage at 25% reserve or less.
Videni: All contact is to be presumed hostile, as they are allies of the Zangid; other than that, not much is known. They are presumed hostile, and are to be evicted or detained as practical within Confed space. Engage at Captain's discretion outside Confed space.
Standing Orders for Adak Sector Rules of Engagement Priority 0: Distress calls Priority 1: Defend Confed civilians and personnel Priority 2: Defend ship Priority 3: Eject Hostile Alien Forces, Defend Confed installations Priority 4: Gather intelligence. Priority 5: Neutralize Zangid assets
Standard missions are priority 4. Which means, Neutralizing Zangid assets is "if time permits" as is gathering Videni and Zangid intelligence.

OK, then let's go poke our noses around in System X-131. Jasper will definitely try to schedule time on the Starbase's sensors to check out System X-131 before actually leaving the Starbase.
