We'll leave whomever is in left in charge of the ship to contact us whenever/if the Videni or anyone else turn up. Assuming the Captain will be npc'd maybe he can come out of his cabin with a brown paper bag on his head and a couple of eye holes to make sure the remaining crew don't do anything too silly?
Other than that, we ready to beam down and go find the government of this place chaps?

OK.. Pick (invent) a landing area, and we'll do this. And due to public knowledge of his BDay last week, APN has a free "make roll" (can be used even after a failed roll).

yay, another reminder that I turned 40 Thanks anyway, it'll come in handy We'll aim to land outside the largest settlement, the city/town/village/mud hut collection of Krrrzzzt (or some such), and take cover to get a look at the place before we decide how to proceed. Wouldn't want to appear in their midst without warning and start an incident...

No worries - work has been a pig so far this week (stranded in middle of nowhere on a train) so might be slower than usual, but will check in every day.

Grayson will move towards the city for a closer look, stopping on the outskirts when he sees movement and hitting the deck so as to watch from afar. He won't go so close as to be within 100m of the buildings, just wants to see what kind of life forms live in this place. If he sees any, he'll discretely head back to the other two and see how they are getting on with the stones before they decide on their next course of action. If he doesn't see any life, he'll search for a good 10 minutes at distance then head back, staying in radio contact all the while.

Once the other two have taken readings form the stones and taken any useful data we'll head as a group towards the settlement unless someone has a better idea.

Not sure how many questions Grayson gets for his special result, but here goes:
1) Is the stone we are examining alive? 2) Does it house the minds of one or more natives of this planet? 3) Does the stone have any value to the federation? 4) Will knocking a small shard off the stone present any danger to us? 5) Will taking a shard from the stone cause it to cease functioning? 6) Can we use the stone to communicate with the natives of this world? 7) Are there more stones like this within 3 miles? 8) Do the Videni want this stone or others like it? 9) can the Videni use this stone or others like it as a weapon?
