I really wanted to be part of a PBP game, but I don't know if I could have kept going in the manner that this game proceeded. I did not have it in me (at this time) to write all those paragraphs! I really wanted "I'll do this, then what happens?" Of course, the slow pace of PBP games may really make that style crawl...

I propose the following format:
1. A week to take care of preliminaries like rolling up characters. Pretty laid-back.
2. A week of reasonably intense play-by-post on the forum, during which we play out “Act 1” of the “Episode.”
3. At the end of the week, we get together in a chat room environment and knock out “Act 2” and “Act 3”.
Repeat as desired. Not necessarily rolling up new characters each time. Not necessarily the same person GMing each time, either, although that means the rules and setup would have to be agreeable to every possible GM.

A starship rpg is a terrible thing to waste. Don't let this happen to you... rflowers: That's the nature of the beastie with PbPs. I propose the following format: 1. A week to take care of preliminaries like rolling up characters. Pretty laid-back. 2. A week of reasonably intense play-by-post on the forum, during which we play out “Act 1” of the “Episode.” 3. Item #2 could be amended with an agreed upon timetable, something akin to one post every 1-2 days per player. The next day we'd wait for the GM to resolve rolls and responses to PC activities before posting the next round. Everyone would have the day to interact on 'Hailing Frequencies' if cooperative action was necessary with each other. Every one has their daily routine to go by: work, school, etc. So, if we agreed to something like this, it commits you to checking in for a short while every day or two. No one would get left behind. If someone cannot make a post on the designated response day, the GM can elect to continue the PC as NPC for that post if necessary to the scenario. A few paragraphs would be the best format, remembering to treat it as an actual turn. If everyone posts on the same day & the GM gets responses back likewise, then the schedule picks up to repeat the next day, etc. A day per turn would be as quick as we could go without leaving people falling behind, I think. Item #3 could even be discarded if the posting can be regular enough. The multi-GM idea is a plus as well. Players and GMs can flesh the crew out with their characters. Eventually, they could have a character in every department (Command, Science, Medical, etc). The GMs can put together the command crew (Capt, XO, Dept Chiefs, ...). These could be expendable characters until the roles are filled by PCs, or they can be PCs right from the start. Whichever is agreed upon. I would be willing to get back onboard if something like this could be arranged. What does everyone else think? Ciao! Grendelwulf
