The lift doors open on the bridge for the 1000th time today and Commander Ransom, step onto the bridge. Moving down to the center seat.
"Roundtree nice job backstopping as duty officer."
"Long I have some data at the science station that I would like you to take a look and then forward your analysis to my office station."
"Ramirez and Falcone, please get those sensors working, I would hate for you to be the ones documenting our leaving dry dock by staying on dry dock."
Moving to the comms console, "DC you better have your backside back tomorrow." She mutters but still loud enough to be heard.
Grabbing the earpiece and opening a channel, "Hikaru, yea glad to hear from you as well, BUT I need Pavel to do me a favor if he could be spared..." Her voice gets quiet and she turns away from the open bridge and to the comms station.

Personal Log, supplemental (.298)
It's been a long, long, LONG duty shift my first day on Exeter. And apparently, thanks to my good job "backstopping as duty officer", I shall be on Night Watch for awhile. Ransom wants this ship ready to go A.S.A.P. and therefore crews are working around the clock. So I'll hit the rack for a short nap and take the Chair.
The Chair. We all know we want to be there, eventually, but even as a night watch duty officer in dry dock, I'm sitting in The Chair. Captain Chou will be there soon enough and we'll be warping out to new adventures and new opportunities, but still... you don't forget how it feels. I just hope I'm up to the task, no matter where I'm sitting.
And now for some sleep, I've got a late watch tonight and then I'll be back on day watch - no rest for the wicked.

Scotty looks over at you and the airlock opens and then he is walking out onto the skin of the Exeter.
The ship is like a little bird in a nest as the dry dock completely surrounds the ship at various access points there is cabling attached to the ship. These are there for a variety of purposes, there are less than you would think.
"Ok, lad you check the port side I've got starboard."
The ship hull is a blue gray there are a variety of lights and even some windows, through them you can see crew working, but the access ports are what your looking for.
On the main hull you can see four ports have cables running to them from the dry dock, the saucer section looks to have one possibly two....

"Very good, Mister da Costa. Mind you tell the engineering scrubs the fire control board is locked down. I need ta get ahold of security to put their seal on it, but until I know who did that, an' why, I want that panel untouched. Finnegan out."
Finnegan grabbed his case and headed towards his quarters. He paused just quickly enough to snap his tricorder's scanner in a terminal jack.
"Computer, send hardcopy of current board status with damage highlighted, my quarters."
"WORKING. HARDCOPY AVAILABLE IN QUARTERS PER FINNEGAN, SHANE LIEUTENANT USS EXETER."
Finnegan stepped out into the corridor; it was like the Golden Gate promenade at 2100 on a Friday: filled with people, all going in seemingly different directions. He spied a harried looking ensign with two stacked carryalls marked GALLEY. Finnegan smirked and stepped in front of the scrub and snapped a salute.
"DontcharecognizeasuperiorofficerENSIGN!" Finnegan barked. The "young gentleman" paled, gulped, and looked frantically for somewhere to set the unwieldy burden down. "Sir! Yessir, sir! Begging the...uh...Lieutenant's? Pardon sir!" He finally set the load down on his own feet, hastily returned the salute and picked up the load, stepping gingerly around Finnegan (who hadn't moved an inch while he glowered at the lower Rating) and doubletimed towards a waiting turbolift.
Salutes were Academy formal only, and even then there were regulatory exceptions given for "moments of burden or duress" that allowed ranks to face superiors and smartly nod and continue on. But Finnegan's "attack" had apparently shattered the already harried Ensign's concentration to the point that he just plain forgot - which was the exact effect Finnegan had been going for.
Finnegan stalked on and chuckled to himself, thinking God almighty, please save the Federation from Ensigns!

Captians Quarters late 2268.298
"Captains personal log, Doctor Bihn, the civilian in charge of the expedition does not like the fact that his team has been relegated to the cargo bay."
Punching some buttons on the replicator, an herbal tea issues forth.
"I've explained that it is the best space that we have to accommodate his team, they don't have to live there, we have quarters for them BUT they want to stay near their equipment."
Chuckling
"I'm glad that Chief Campbell didn't hear all the insinuations that his engineers would do something to that equipment."
"We are hopeful to leave dry dock in the next forty eight hours but we have some other issues Captain Kirk and Commodore Wesley want to meet tomorrow on Earth in New Orleans for lunch."
"Lunch tomorrow with those two men is something that I am looking forward to, but I know that I have to pick up the tab."
Smiling
"I might even have time to stop by New Kyoto and see Raiko before we leave dock. End recording."
"Computer please send message to Raiko Chou in New Kyoto that I will be stopping for dinner and staying overnight."
"WORKING, MESSAGE SENT."

"I'm sorry that I couldn't get a hold of you to talk to you before you left the Independence, I tried but you were in transit most of the time and I kept missing you." "Captain Chou offered me the CMO spot, we served together a few times and initially I said no but then changed my mind, I hope that there won't be an issue working together. I heard through the grapevine that they were looking at you after me for this spot." "Oh, not an issue at all," said Sloan, trying like hell to put his best smile forward. How could he have been so stupid? Fortunately, he had managed to not blurt out his surprise. "What's the first thing we need to get started on around here?"

Moving and straightening a picture on his desk. "Would you mind taking a trip down there and speaking to their doctor, a Janice Leist."

Sloan nodded his head toward Pearl, then turned and left the room. On his way out out of sickbay, he looked at the door of what must be his office, but he didn't look in. The excitement was gone, to say the least. Once in the turbolift, he considered - did he want to go to his quarters first? No, no need to settle in. Better to get right to work. He turned the turbolift toward Cargo Bay 1. In a few minutes he was walking into the bay... (o/c : Did TOS have voice recognition in the turbolifts? Can't remember...)

Stardate: 2268.298 Setting: Exterior Secondary HullLooking away from the distant primary hull’s saucer section, Lt. da Costa began his approach towards the nearest of the two cable-couplings attached to the port side. Lt. Commander Scott had said he and (his cousin) Chief Campbell had an idea of what may be causing the recent system troubles. Neither one had actually said what their suspicions were. They’re testing me. The young engineer’s smile was masked in the shadows of his helmet. Okay, I’m up for it. Superficially, there were no irregularities to the hull. Of course there isn’t, Vince. You’re in dry dock! Using his engineering tricorder as he crossed the hull, da Costa could see the thousands and thousands of myriad sensor nodes and shield projectors were fully functional. Tapping his helmet communicator, he began a standard report. Keep it by-the-book, Vince. Don’t jump to conclusions. But, keep your eyes open. Like Commander Scott said earlier, don’t overthink it!<< Exterior hull scans confirm earlier dock and engineering reports. No abnormalities. I have reached the portside pylon couplings. Scanning…>> The cables were more than well-weathered, having seen a fair amount of use recently. <<Magna-bolts secure….the AE-35 data relay to the dock appears functional…>> [o/c] Is a GM roll necessary here for da Costa to find anything?

The first couplings check out just fine, moving to the next couplings show nothing wrong either, there is some wear on the third coupling that looks a bit unusual but your scans prove that there is nothing wrong. At the final coupling on the primary hull the connection is secure but as you begin to think about ascending to the saucer section, you notice that there is a third cabling that has been run parallel to the two normal connections. This third cable has been splice into the two and runs back to the dry dock. The other item that catches your eye is there are no lifts or dry dock personnel moving around the lattice work of the dry dock, almost like a ghost town...

Finnegan finally arrived at his quarters. With a sigh, he heaved his bags onto the bunk. He slotted his favorite data tape into the replicator and punched up a bowl of stew. With at least a short while before duty, he'd have time to relax and pore over the printouts of the damaged systems.
[o/c - GM should I roll here to find something in them?]

[o/c - GM should I roll here to find something in them?] (Indeed...though I will take care of the roll.) The printouts are showing complex tactical and navigational data, the tactics are based upon single ship combats and fleet combatants. They range in variety from Klingon, Orion, Kizinti and other smaller stellar nations. There is also data from logs from many different conflicts and ships. Whomever did this programming was very very experienced. The fire control station was damaged and those files were the ONLY ones that seemed to have survived the purge in the system. From your perspective there might be something in that code that could have caused this but you would need to do more of a forensic sweep on that board.

Lt. Chen Long sighs as he gazes at the mass of cablework strung across what he assumed would be a nest of efficiency. "Nothing is easy, is it" he mutters. He strides across the bridge to where the two ensigns are in confab. "Gentlemen," he says "I'm Lt. Long, Sciences. What's our situation up here?" "Sir!" They both become a little stiffer but then relax remembering probably that they are not at the academy any longer. "Engineering has been chasing down power spikes and surges since we upgraded the polarized elements of the primary sensors." The other ensign from sciences speaks out, "Now our internal sensor grid is down and out." "We are trying to re-calibrate from the engineering station directly to the science station." "All right", Long said. "I'll oversee the calibration sequence manually at the station, unless there are some connections somewhere else you need chased down? The sooner we're up and running the better, and I just want it to be right"
