Marcus looks around... is Dr. Leist here? You don't have to wait long your looking around when from around a corner comes a woman who looks very angry. Seeing you she stops, "Well, lookee here a true to life Starfleet BOY scout." ((Glenn Close is who I am thinking of but have not found a pic yet.)) A smaller man with glasses catches up, "Ma'am this I'm sure is one of the ships physicians, they did tell us they wanted to look at our medical records." Looking exasperated,"Alright and you are Doctor who?" Sloan was taken aback. "Boy scout?" he thought to himself. "Really?" "Dr. Leist, I presume," he said speaking to the woman. "This gentleman has it right. I am here to review those records." Marcus glanced at the bespectacled man. (Marcus will wait for introductions, and to be taken to/shown those medical records)

Finnegan ate slowly, savoring the taste of the stew. He'd written the replicator code himself after writing down his gran's recipe. Code. Code. Wait a minute...he pondered. "Computer, run an emulation in situ of PHAS6 hardware; use any custom programs run by weapons control personnel prior to...uh, their deaths." It'd take time, and manual tweaking of the code as it ran, but the simulation just might show whether or not someone had managed to route around operational protocols and caused the malfunction through programming - either erroneously or deliberately. WORKING THE PHAS6 HARDWARE WAS NOT USED BY ANY EXETER PERSONNEL DURING THE STARDATE IN QUESTION. Finnegan frowned at the desktop terminal. "Well who was it used by? Cross-ref with decontamination team roster and security records, officer's authority service number 33671-zulu-1 if necessary. An' while you're at it - " he slid a blank data cassette into the port - "start backin' up my prior requests, the schematics I hardcopied, an' the info you're lookin' for me now." I'll find out what happened to that phaser bank control unit if I have to plug the whole shipboard computer network into Memory Alpha to do it! Finnegan thought.

Mr. Whittaker smiles and just shrugs his shoulders. Moving in Dr. Leist has a desk and a few personal items displayed she offers a chair and ask, "Would you care for some coffee or something, doctor?" Grabbing a cup and pouring from a carafe, "It's been a logistics nightmare and promises made to us by Starfleet haven't come through yet." Whittaker sits down in another chair looking at a data slate and using a stylus he seems very busy looking for something.

WORKING THAT INFORMATION HAS BEEN CLASSIFIED BY ORDER OF SHIPS SECURITY. The sound of the data card being ejected puts an exclamation on the statement.

<<Nay lad, I've already worked this side and moved to the saucer section, you start those nodes, I'll help ya put those nodes back in place in a jiffy.>> <<Yes sir,>> Already moved to the saucer, da Costa looked in its direction. He sure is fast. Of course, he has a few thousand more EVA hours than you do, Vince. Better hustle...The young engineer flipped open his tool pack and headed for the first group of sensor nodes. As he knelt down, he glanced toward the dry dock briefly. As deserted as it appeared, he couldn't help but give a brief salute in its direction. Coincidentally, the nodes needing reallignment were all in a direct path to the deserted dock. You are finishing with the node re-alignment when you become aware of a figure moving towards you from the bow of the ship. <<Alright lad, any troubles?>> He is moving towards the gamma cable, when something strikes him it came from over your shoulder and slammed him in the chest, breaking his contact with the hull of the ship.

RED ALERT, Vince!
da Costa hit his helmet-communicator.
<<Bridge! Man OFF HULL!!>>
He ran towards Lt Commander Scott, attempting to gage the distance from him and his separation from the hull. His mind was racing...
...does his suit look damaged?...is he moving?...what hit him?...don't waste time to look, Vince. Get the commander if you can...and hope whatever it is doesn't hit you too...
[o/t] If Scotty is more than 3 meters off the hull, da Costa will turn and look in the direction of whatever attacked Scotty (trusting the Enterprise's Chief Engineer can't get too far past the dock) pulling his ion-welder from his tool-pack. Otherwise, if Scotty is still close to the hull, da Costa will risk a run & grab to catch him. If successful, then he'll try to turn in the direction of the attacker... [/o/t]

[/o/t] Looking, it seems that Scotty is not moving. There is something that is moving out there but it is hard to see it appears to be painted in a scheme to match space and the color of the hull. As you pull the welder, you can feel the sensation of the transporter as you are being beamed out. Appearing on the transporter pad, looks like there is a medical team standing by, and you realize that you are on the Enterprise. They grab at Scotty as he begins to fall forward. A Lieutenant at the station asks, "Are you ok?" You also can hear Scotty, "Kyle did you get the beastie?" "Aye sir, locked away just as you and Chekov wanted."

"Thank you, Lieutenant," he says to the young blond officer stepping around the transporter console. "Permission...?" gesturing off the transporter pad. Lt Kyle nods to him, "You're welcome. And we've contacted the Exeter that we have you." Stepping off the platform, da Costa turns toward Lt Commander Scott. He sees the medics have removed his helmet and were administering a hypo into his neck. Beastie? Locked away? SHUT UP, Vince, you're still on ALERT."I'm sorry, sir...thought I saw something...figured my eyes were just playing tricks...never suspected something alive out there. I suppose...whatever it was...has a name?" I was just too focused on it being a technical problem! Stupid AND careless....and the commander may be hurt!To the nearest medic, he asked, "He's going to be okay, right?"

The medic looks over, "Yes he'll be ok, knocked the wind out of him at first and either broke or bruised a rib." "Ah, my sister punches harder, tossing the helmet to the side." Moving over to the controls, "Lad, before we start puttin' names to it let's see what we have here,." Smiling. "Kyle you man the main circuit just in case, da Costa wanna help me with bringin' it in?" He appears to be favoring his side but he isn't trying to show it either.

"Aye, Commander. This "Beastie" certainly had its fun with the Exeter, so it wouldn't be right if we didn't get a proper introduction..." da Costa moved to the side panel next to Lt Commander Scott.

"Alright lad, it's just sittin' there right now waitin'." Moving his hands over the controls, the pad area lights up with a force field.
"Just in case, we know it likes to bite."
Moving the controls up and back, the familiar particles of energy begin to flow upwards and downwards filling the pad. Finally hovering there is an engineering drone, painted in a way to offer it camouflage.
((This is non-canon I know but...it is a round object the size of a basketball, there are numerous hooks and latches on it. These are designed to help engineers carry more equipment and also work as a recording device as well. They are remote controlled.))

"I think I liked it better when I thought it was a living creature..." If someone were using this to keep an eye on the ship, or worse, to access data from the ship....where were they controlling it from?Checking the console readings, "Checking ID to see if it is one of Exeter's...and to see if it is still transmitting..."

Cross referencing the data from it, it is indeed one that was issued to the Exeter but was logged as being destroyed on 2267.196. It right now is in stand-by mode it is no longer being controlled or receiving any signal.

"Isn't that around the time the Exeter was listed as missing when she was affected by the Omega IV virus? Maybe the drone was ejected before all of her crew perished and was just presumed destroyed by the inspection teams that checked her out after..." da Costa 's voice trailed off. Afterall, it was the Enterprise that had initially brought her back to a starbase...
