As Jasper moves over to the Science station and starts a Sensors sweep of the planet, he says, "Mr. Alexander and Mr. Reilly, please find that ship for me. Where is it? Where did it go? What class is it?"
"Those lights along the coast are intriguing and possible signs of civilization, and worthy of a look," he says as he turns to focus his attention on the Sensors sweep.

"Searching, sir." RJ says. He frowns, conscious of his usual difficulty with sensor searches "I'm sorry Skipper, can't find anything..."

Lt. Alex Grayson
"What say ah take a bunch o people down there fer a look see an report back sir? Ah reckon they's gotta be pretty smart whoever they are. Or whatever they are." said Grayson, eager to gather up his blaster and go for a look.

Jasper smiles at Alex's enthusiasm, and says, "yes, Mr. Grayson, we'll send an Away Team just as soon as Mr. O'Keef and Mr. Johnson finish their sleep shift. In the meantime, please conduct a Sensors sweep of the planet's surface."
Turning to Mr. Reilly, Jasper twitches his whiskers as he says, "please conduct a Sensors sweep of the planet's surface as well. When you're both finished, we'll analyze the data for any anomalies."

"Sir? Scans indicate that that there planet may be useful ta us. Ah recommend we head on down, but we need ta be careful 'cause there'll be some critters down there we never saw before that wants ta eat us an' scoop ah brains out fer cups." drawled Grayson, looking at the viewscreen and the planet on it.
"Ah reckon on three of us gettin' on down there n takin' ah look around. Maybe we should wear ah red shirts cause they're lucky, an' nothin' ever happens ta anyone whilst they're wearin' a red shirt."

"Skipper..." RJ says. "Finished my sweep. The natives have a tech level high enough to be a threat to us if we land... they have a nice little telescope that can detect us from a mountain top. And what's most interesting... I found a clearing with markings of a Videni shuttle that landed there about 2 weeks ago... if it landed so near the telescope, they must have had direct contact with the locals..."

"Excellent work, Mr. Reilly," Jasper says genuinely with a blue-furred smile.
Once Mr. O'Keef and Mr. Johnson report to the Bridge for duty, Jasper says, "alright, Mr. Grayson, we're a go on the Away Team. Prepare yourselves and equipment and report to the Transporter Room. Mr. Reilly, you're on the Away Team too. Mr. Vork, please report to the Transporter Room and get it ready for our beam down."
Turning to Mr. O'Keef, he says, "you have the Bridge. We've discovered evidence that the natives have advanced technologies, and that the Videni have made contact already. Keep the Sensors up and beam us back up at any sign of a ship entering the system."

=SD=2103.2= "Aye, Sir, I have the Conn." Paddy Says.
"Aye, Sir, on my way," says Vork. As he heads for the port-aft door of the bridge, he asks, "COB, can you have the power ready when I get there?"
Paddy walks over to the power systems panel. "Power allocated for transport both ways, maintaining life support."
Johnson quietly takes a seat at sensors.

=SD=2103.201= Transporter Room
"Got everything you need, Sirs?" Vork adjusts a few controls. "Just where do you want me to put you down. I see a 50m diameter hilltop, with a 20x20 meter landing field; just south of it, a 15m scope shed, a second shed opposite it, grass elsewhere, and a service road leading through the woods on the hill itself."

"Yes, thank you, Mr. Vork," Jasper says as he strides onto the Transporter Pad, "please put right next to the telescope shed."

"If ah may suggest Cap'n let me go in anywhere dangerous lookin' first. Ah know it's standard policy to blindly send in all th' command staff to every dangerous situation, but ah get kinda itchy when the Cap'n is in th' line o fire."

"Excellent work, Mr. Reilly," Jasper says genuinely with a blue-furred smile. "Thank you, sir. My pleasure." RJ says, smiling back. "Mr. Reilly, you're on the Away Team too.." "Aye, sir." RJ says, and gets up to get his equipment, then heads for the transporter, joining the others.

As you materialize by the building, local time is just after dawn. The scope shed is closed up, the door being about 1m wide and 1.5m tall. (3'3" x 4'10"). starting at about 3m, one can see the roller-wheels for the turret, and the turret arcs up. The Scope doors are closed, and open directly sideways, covering about 120° vertical arc (from -30 to 90, up being 0).
The ground is richly grassed, save for the nearby landing field, which, surprisingly, is not simply packed dirt, but packed dowels inside a frame. The far shed is 15x9m, narrow side to you, a similar door centered on it, about 2m tall, with a tarred leather pitched roof, 1m further in height.

RJ looks around, at attention, his hand on the butt of his weapon, looking at the Captain to see if he has any orders in that respect.
