Larger images should still work, but they will just show up as smaller. My image is about the size of a deck of playing cards (slightly smaller) but it shrinks it down to the size I typed in. (I think mine is 85x100)

That's right. You can use a larger image, you just specify a size at the correct ratio (ideally) within the 100x100 limits.

Yes, I set it to 100x77 which is the same aspect as 130x100. But the scaling makes the image blocky and ugly. Maybe much bigger pictures scale better, but small pictures don't seem to scale.
Edit: And while we're at it, is there any way to make proboards do a "find all unread posts" search like Dragonsfoot does with their bb software? I find there are now too many forums I'm interested in to check each one. And once I have a "find all unread posts" I'll need a button to "mark all as read".

For an image, if you can host a picture (I use photobucket.com, which is free) then you can copy an image into microsoft paint, reduce the image size, then post it in your photobucket. Then you can link to that version. I find that I get pretty clear resolution that way.
As far as the unread post functions, I don't think that proboards has this. Or, if it does I haven't found it yet. The only "unread post" thing I know about is that little blue dot on the folder in the index page, which simply says "yeah, something new is in here".

I can’t increase the allowed image size, sorry. “mark as read” is already there. I’ve added a “posts since last visit” button next to it, which hopefully works well enough for you. Since it’s a hack, it doesn’t actually tap into server-side information about your last login. So it’s a little janky. A “visit” is only initiated whenever the visit cookie can be set. The cookie can only be set again IF a user clears their cookies or closes their browser. Therefore, people who leave their browser open always are out of luck. Another option is “View the 25 most recent posts of this forum”, which should cover most peoples’ needs. (This isn’t a very high-traffic forum!)

We’ve just topped 50 members and 1,000 posts! Hope you’re having as much fun as I am! And I think we’ve barely scratched the surface of Old School Trek’s potential...

I am (in my spare moments) and congratulations! Thanks again for putting this together, Falconer. I'm not sure I ever had 50 readers for my blog, so it warms my heart to see so much interest in the subject after all!

Thanks, guys! I really had no idea who other than me might be interested in this forum if I set it up. I am pleased as punch to have such thoughtful and entertaining posters!
Tonight I made some cosmetic changes. I am mainly trying to keep the index page as uncluttered as possible. Although I remain committed to exploring the 1978 and 1983 rules, there wasn’t much discussion focused on any one of them, so for now they share a forum. If desired, this can be reversed later on, and no harm done. Enjoy!

I have given Slortar moderator reins on the Where No Man Has Gone Before board (he wrote the game!) and Finarvyn on the Original Dungeons & Dragons board (he’s mister OD&D)! This shouldn’t affect your day-to-day experience here much or at all, but it’s nice for me to have people to share responsibility around here, and it’s great to be the official (?) home of WNMHGB on the web!

Thanks, guys! I really had no idea who other than me might be interested in this forum if I set it up. I am pleased as punch to have such thoughtful and entertaining posters! I'm sure there are plenty of people interested, the issue becomes getting the word out. I stumbled upon your forum today, but I can't recall how I was directed here. It certainly appears to be a nice Trek community here, and fairly new. Older forums with an established core of 1000+ post members can be somewhat intimidating when noobs what to join and jump in I've been gaming since the early 80s and own most of the various incarnations of Star Trek RPGs. I played Star Fleet Battles and Federation Space back in the day. I'd have to say FASA was my favorite rpg version (especially the CharGen), but I just can't get into playing the rather dated system now days. I just downloaded WNMHGB, but haven't had the opportunity to read it yet. Thanks for setting up this board, and hope I can contribute in the future.

Welcome! Yeah, I would like to get the word out more, but I am not sure how best to do that other than trying to steal users from other Trek boards, which I am not in any hurry to do. I am also fine with our current rate of growth. Our contributors are fun and knowledgeable, and the exchange of ideas is manageable in my head. :-) New users are always welcome, though!

I would like to point out to everyone that, while ProBoards forces you to have an all-lowercase all-one-word "Username" (which is the name you use to log in), your "Display Name" can be anything you want. It can be your username capitalized, it can be your full first and last name with a space between, whatever. Just go here and click on "Modify Profile" to set it.

I replaced M’Ress with Joanne Linville’s Romulan Commander in the site banner. I had wanted to represent TAS, but it just looked too jarring there. Sorry! Hope you like the new look. Here is the old one for comparison.

M'ress and the Edoan, and a Kzin... one more and you could add an outer "set"... setting them off would help avoid the jarringness of the animation.
