Ahh, my wife is going to kill me, but I am so excited to own an honest-to-goodness copy of the Original Star Fleet Battles (Pocket Edition / Task Force Game #4)! (Look closely at everything included in the auction!) FWIW, there are like four or five more Designer’s Editions up for sale on eBay right now for cheap! What is going on? I also found a really great out-of-print mat from Chessex at a game store (new in original wrapper unopened). It’s a Megamat™, 34½” x 48” Vinyl Game Mat, Black Vinyl w/30mm Numbered Hexes, Stock # CHX 97869. It’s seriously perfect for SFB with minis. I haven’t been able to find any online, so this was a real steal!

I suspect it's got a lot to do with the slow economy and high unemployment. Plus no small amount to Fed Commander replacing older editions as the SFB-lite of choice. And there is also a possibility of an estate sale. The Alpha Omega boards are not original to SFB; I suspect the lister doesn't actually know what they had... ΑΩ is an old Avalon Hill game. Nice to see that you got the Designer's Boxed set as well as the microgame. I'll bet that it slipped by because the Boxed sets aren't much in demand and bidders may not have realized that the microgame was in there, too. At least, I know I didn't notice it at first when I clicked on the link. My initial thought was "um ... that's not the microgame." Then I looked at all of the photos. Congrats!
