It will be interesting to see what they cost. (I couldn't get the Mongoose page to load and didn't see costs on the other one.) If we can get decent ship minis at a good price that would be amazing. Even better if they come pre-painted.

Some may fairly say "apples and oranges", but...
The Mongoose ACTA SFU ships are $15 each, or about $6 if you buy a Squadron Box of six ($30) or a Fleet box of sixteen ($100). Not pre-painted. Based on TOS designs.
WizKids is getting ready to release "Star Trek HeroClix: Tactics" line of pre-painted ships, same molds used in "Fleet Commander". Starter set of four is $20, counter top display of twelve (blind boosters) is about $50. 28 ships split between Feds and Klingons. Based on film-era and next-gen designs.
Personally, I'll probably focus on the WizKids ships and cherry pick a very few of the ACTA ships. I have such a painting backlog and already have a huge collection of the FASA line, I just don't feel all that motivated to spend that much money/time per ship on the Mongoose stuff.
(and, yes, my life has finally settled for the better, and I'll be around much more!)

This may be of interest, a size comparison of FASA ships vs WizKids: fasatrekker.blogspot.com/2011/10/size-comparison-fasa-ships-vs-wotcs.htmlAnd I think the Mongoose ACTA 2500 ships are probably a bit larger than WizKids. Which is probably irrelevant since TOS ships are smaller than their NG counterparts...
