Anyone has played the game and is willing to share? I'd love to know more about it. Mechanics? What have you done with it? Etc.

"Thousand Suns" is a great game. It's based on the same d12 engine as "Colonial Gothic" and other stuff by Rogue Games. It's a skill-based game (as are pretty much all scifi games) and plays smoothly.
There is a thread somewhere about Robert St. John's Star Trek version of the game. It's unofficial, of course, and not entirely finished, but a fun read.

Thanks for the responses! When I posted I could not find any reviews that did more than complain about formatting. Since then, I found one that actually explained what the game was like and promptly ordered it. Now I have to wait until I get home from the holiday visit to read it; hopefully it will have been delivered by then.
BTW, if you recall where the Star Trek version thread is, please post a link.

Just FYI, I started work this week on the new version of FF for TS:R, and it will be completed this time! It will have a new name (not "Final Frontier") and a somewhat different approach, but will still be entirely focused on on the classic TOS early years. I'm really excited about it and expect there will be an early/playtest draft available in January.

This makes me very happy! ;D And it's nice to see James on these boards as well. I think the new edit of Thousand Suns should be awesome. The first one was great, but this one seems to be even better!

And it's nice to see James on these boards as well. I think the new edit of Thousand Suns should be awesome. The first one was great, but this one seems to be even better! Thanks. I spent nearly a year tweaking the book, along with my graphic artist, and I think the result is a much, much better presentation of the game than the original edition. In most respects, the game itself hasn't changed, but the organization and presentation is light years -- pun intended -- better than the 2008 version. So far, sales have been decent and word of mouth reviews have been very positive, both of which make me very happy. I'm hard at work on the first supplement, Thousand Suns: Technology, and have already contracted some art for it from artists like Liz Danforth and Jeff Dee, so it'll be just as attractive as the rulebook
