I know that I have a couple of books based on the Chris Pike era of Star Trek, but at the moment they are all boxed up.
With the debut of Strange New Worlds happening in 2022, I thought I'd get a head start and catch up on my reading, but I can't recall how many books (or which ones) deal with that segment of Star Trek history. Anyone have a collection of this stuff? Can you make a list of what's out there?

Vulcan’s Glory by D.C. Fontana is one.

There aren't a whole bunch - even if you include Comic books... 'Tis a shame since it's an interesting character and era.

It will be interesting to see if they bother nodding to Vulcan's Glory in the show, since that book pretty firmly establishes a number of details about Spock's early career on the Enterprise with Pike.

Not unless it's available on actual TV... I'm not paying Paramount+ a penny.

Probably not, unless someone else invites us over to watch it with them. I wouldn't avoid it in that case. I didn't even realize Discovery had already gone through a 2nd and 3rd season until my last post yesterday, so that must mean I'm officially out of the loop on new Star Trek.
It doesn't really bother me to realize that. Just going up to the 90s there's already more than enough to enjoy in one lifetime, and I think overall I'm more of a fan of products that happen to be Star Trek than I am a fan of the Star Trek brand, if that makes sense. It's been a long time since I've felt any reaction at all to the idea of new content coming out with the Trek name.

Yeah, I get a thrill out of TOS snd its direct derivatives (official and unofficial) that I just don’t get from the later franchise. Too bad they never even try to recapture the magic.

Are you guys really going to watch the new show? I am. I get Paramount Plus for other shows, as well. I enjoy Discovery, I loved Picard, and I like several non-trek shows on PP, plus I live in an area without cable TV, without broadcast TV, but decent internet. I think Anson Mount does a great job, and Rebecca Romaine and Ethan Peck are a good team up with him. I'm looknig forward to seeing them as the mains, rather than guests.

I am looking forward to Strange New Worlds. I've also enjoyed the various shows on Paramount+ including the Short Trek episodes that SNW characters have appeared in. SNW is going to contain individual episodes instead of season long story arcs that have been common in other series. Of the past Pike stories in published works, I've also enjoyed Star Trek: Early Voyages by Marvel Comics. IDW Publishing had Pike in their Orions alien special and also had an issue of Captain's Log for Pike. There is also a novel called Burning Dreams that was semi-autobiographical to the life of Jeffery Hunter. memory-beta.fandom.com/wiki/Christopher_PikeThe Star Trek New Voyages/Phase II fan film episode "In Harms Way" is a Kirk/Pike story.
