I just received the Star Trek Concordance (original 1976 edition, of course), and having a lot of fun reading through it! It is quite encyclopedic with regard to TOS and TAS. Each entry seems to include a bit of speculation, too, which sometimes leads me to contemplate a plot. For example: If that last sentence about Slavers isn’t a great hook, I don’t know what is. Let alone the one about Korby crawling the Orion ruins in search of lost tech. And I never really noticed that Orion Slave Girls have claws! Crazy. Throw in a little time-travel research adventure via the Guardian of Forever, and a really great campaign is starting to shape up! By the way, JB= Journey to Babel, etc. I think I’ll add these codes to the episode list, just because it is a handy system. Finally, one of the coolest things about this book is it has a ton of black-and-white line art! Almost every species, main character, memorable special guest, and ship type is depicted. These would be great and very appropriate to plug into a (free/personal use) Old School Star Trek RPG. I am totally scanning them...

Alright, I bought this one for $0.01 (plus shipping, so $4) on Amazon and I am reading it now. It is a very interesting backstage look at Star Trek. In fact, it looks like this was written between season 2 and season 3, so it is actually contemporary with the show! It basically interweaves the series bible or writers’ guide or whatever with anecdotes, history, lots of memos and even a few scripts. Since this was by far the first book of its kind, it is interesting to see how much of the lore in SFTM, SFB, STAGFF, etc. came from this book. One quote I read with smugness was that, to Klingons, “honor is a despicable trait.” I can do a more thorough review when I am done reading it through, but since it’s so cheap, why not pick up a copy? Regards.

Plus I very much enjoyed the memos that the production team would send around. I need to get another copy of this one.

It always made me wish I had a complete copy of the series bible I wonder... that has got to be floating around, somewhere! (The TAS version would be good, too.)

Yesssssss! Thank you, Allen! Exalt!
I can’t believe they make such a big deal about how they won’t hire writers who let Kirk hug his beautiful yeoman in a tense combat situation. He did just that in Balance of Terror!

I was able to coax John Patuto (the site owner) to rescan these in higher definition. One of the all-time great Star Trek ships, IMO, and one of the all-time great sets of deck plans! Currently using these in my campaign.
