Not sure what I'd do with them, but they are nice to look at.

Being mainly "backgrounds", they reminded me of Colorforms, from my childhood (and earlier, apparently). For those not in the know, a Colorform set came with 1 or more backgrounds or scenes, and several "foreground" decals (characters & props) that could be applied and re-applied to the background to make scenes. In that vein, one could use a graphic editor to place characters on these backgrounds, maybe for use in a PBP game or something similar. Unfortunately, the artist would have to be pretty sophisticated about it, or it would look awful.

The sheets were rub-to-transfer decals, not reuseable vinyl images. The Trek ones I don't seem to be up. Colorforms were images on vinyl (well, aside from the abstract early sets). And they're still made... colorforms.com/ ... but the classic ones aren't there. They were VERY reusable... still work if you can find them.

Those aren't the colorforms - those are Action Transfers (same era, very different mode). Sorry about that. As a kid, I used to call them "colorforms" interchangeably. Although, it still holds-up to the topic at hand: static landscape images, ripe for making background scenery. I do like utility of the vinyl descales (not so much the smell), but I find the violent and madcap nature of Action Transfers to be rather awesome. The use of gold shirts as Redshirts really highlights the blood and gore.
