In The Conscience of the King, Spock declines to have a drink by saying “My father’s race were spared the dubious benefits of alcohol”, to which McCoy rebuts with, “Oh. Now I know why they were conquered.” This is contradicted in The Immunity Syndrome, when Spock says that Vulcan has not been conquered in its collective memory. But what if the former story is true? What if the Federation is like the Commonwealth of Nations (formerly the British Empire)? Just trying to make sense of it.

You know.. Bones was always one for a dig. I think when I hear this, I'm thinking more of being conquered by the school of logic, versus an actual conquering. Bones was always needling Spock on Vulcan logic. As a script element, this is a big WHOOPS!
