Interesting. Not something I would be able to run, yet. Too schematic.

What does that mean? Do you mean that it is all skeleton without the muscle? It was designed to be brief and then filled in by indiviudal SM's. (Ship Masters. )

Ah. Well, that's my style of play. I grew up on OD&D and the entire notion of being given a vague outline and fleshing it out on-the-fly comes naturally for me. Also, I figured that most people interested in TOS OD&D would have a solid background in TOS and that I wouldn't have to explain things much....

If you've ever looked at the three little books of OD&D you'd know that "not well enough explained to make the tabular data useful" is a defining trait of the product. :-P
I'm just finding my OD&D love. I've been a Mentzer DM all along. My vision surely differs from yours, but I'm open to learning. Having looked yours over it definitely feels like it is missing something. We had discussion of "spells" as a limited use of equipment per role. I expected to see that in your draft.

That was my idea, not Finarvyn’s, and I haven’t gotten around to developing it at all (and no-one else really seemed to like the approach).

Great slim document Fin! I'm glad I followed you here from the OD&D boards, this forum is awesome! Thanks. It reflects my minimalistic rules style. I figure I can just start with a skeleton of a rules set (basic creatures, weapons, etc) and wing it from there.

Brilliant, yet bare-bones simple! Thanks for putting this out, Falconer.
