What do you think of the Starfleet Headquarters from the SFTM (and SFU)? Too jarring for players familiar with the movies? I think it’s super-neat both for roleplaying purposes and for wargaming.

I really like Franz Joseph's vision of the series. It's...very large...compared to what I had imagined from the show, but fitting for fleet headquarters. If I'd had charge of J J Abrams,* I probably would have slipped them in somewhere.
One of the things that capture me as a kid was how the floor design flowed organically. I think he had a real sense for how a star ship should be laid out. The internet's a bit vague on this detail, but you can tell he had an eye for industrial design, especially when you look at the details for the living quarters and the floor plans for the various Ptolemy class containers.
* ...Otherwise, I think he did a good job of capturing TOS in an interesting way.

The only thing I don't like about the SFTM is the map of the galaxy. Make it an arm edge, instead.
I do like the SFHQ, and consider it the prototypical orbital starbase.
Then again, I tend to run in the SFU...
