I'll keep checking in for updates - we need to get moving from wherever/whatever it is that has us 'stuck' I think. If that means appointing a new captain or NPCing the Captain (to be honest when I ran Starships and Spacemen back in the day as GM I was Captain and doled out the missions, fond it the best way of running things, but each to their own ) maybe we can take a vote on it?

The GM acting as a Captain sounds like a good idea. It would at least keep the game moving along at a good pace.
I'll check back on the 5th. Enjoy the weekend!

Weekend was a blast... Went to Trapper Creek (mi. 134.5 Parks Hwy) for a statewide boardgaming gathering.
Played: 18Neb x2, TTR:Europe x4, Cleopatra & The Society of Architects x1, Hansa x1, TTR Card Game x2, Stone Age x1, Homesteaders x1, Terra Prime x1, Tongiaki x1, Dominion x4, El Grande x1, Pitchar Mini x2, and one other that I know not the name of.

No idea what those games were (boardgames you said? War style games, or strategy/risk type?) but having gone into the local game shop a few weeks ago and seen the prices of board games, all I could do was gape! Some were £80, and there were quite a few around the £60 mark too. I remember enjoying Talisman in the 80s but I wouldn't/couldn't afford to play games around the £80 mark these days!
That said, I might see if I can track down a 2nd hand Talisman and see if my son fancies playing it when he's a year or two older...

I've got the current edition of Talisman. it runs $60 over here; I find it not as fun as I did as a teen.
Yes, boardgames all... I'm looking at buying Homesteaders, and it's $40 for the preorder... $50 is pretty normal. None of them cross the line to wargames, but most are of comparable complexity.
Not that I own all of the ones I played... that's the point, in fact... to play things one hasn't bought... of a gathering like this.
Lots of fun. I realized that the highly regarded El Grande is one I don't enjoy.
Homesteaders, however, which is less well regarded overall, was a lot more fun... lots of interesting and meaningful choices. Same with 18Neb. I need my board games fix from time to time.

That sounds like fun. I can remember Talisman too but never got a chance to play it. When I gamed during my youth we used to play HeroQuest sometimes for something different to do.
Do you own Star Explorer aramis?

Yes, yes I do own a copy of SE. I've even played it in the last 5 years.

Back from holiday, will take a day or two to catch up, but it looks like things have slowed somewhat. Can we move on from the current point, or are we acting on Captains orders? Will check in later and see if Grayson can come up with something decisive
